A volunteer based organization that collects and processes clothing and household goods for placement in a free-cycling setting resembling a retail store. All items are free; if someone can make a monetary donation, there is a box for that, but it is not required. There are no restrictions as to who may acquire goods from the store as its primary goal is to relieve the stigma of poverty and conserve the earth through recycling. Donations for the thrift store are accepted, except for mattresses or large furniture items such as appliances and large tables.

The Society of St Vincent de Paul serves the community of Sioux Falls with various programs including outreach services providing financial and material support to those in need for necessities such as rent, utilities, food, shelter, clothing and more. Financial Assistance: Utility assistance (gas, electric or water) that is at least 30 days past due and has a shut off notice (cannot do current bills). Call for qualifications and appointment time. Non-Financial Assistance Programs: - There are two options for those needing food assistance: The Emergency Food Assistance Program (TEFAP) provided by USDA through the State of South Dakota. Requires individuals to fall within income eligible guidelines as well as complete a TEFAP Self Declaration form. Can receive TEFAP food only consisting of protein along with nutritional staple(s). Salvation Army's Food Program: Receive TEFAP and other food consisting of protein, canned goods, and nutritional staples. Picture ID, proof of residence, and completed forms required. Clothing Vouchers: For those needing assistance for clothing. Assistance may only be given 1 time for every 3 months with photo ID. Verification for any additional individuals needing clothing is required (medical cards, birth certificates, etc.) Household Vouchers: For those needing assistance with items used to cook and eat a meal or other household goods (bed linens, towels, etc.). Available to households 1 time every 3 years with a photo ID and current lease or rental agreement. Assistance is limited according to what is available at the time. Pathway of Hope: Program for eligible families. Long term case management program to help families move beyond crisis into stability and becoming self-sufficient. Families will be required to meet with a caseworker to design a plan to meet goals, needs and objectives (ex. goal setting, financial counseling, assistance getting healthcare, educational opportunities, etc).

The Used 2 Be New in Clark (Clark County) has clothing and other household goods for persons who wish to use the store's services. If an income eligible person or family cannot afford to purchase the clothing, the Community Service Worker in that county can provide a voucher that allows the person or family to get the clothing at no charge.

People who qualify receive a card that they need to bring that to the distribution date. Students are also given a brand new pair of shoes.

Health Connect of South Dakota: Strives to provide all South Dakotans access to qualitative, authenticated, independent sources of health information. Provides South Dakotans with free up-to-date health information on a variety of medical and safety issues. As needed, information and referrals to other organizations who may have additional pertinent information is available along with information on support groups and national agencies. Manages the Sioux Empire Coalition and the Sioux Empire Coalition for Youth and Young Adults and provides facilitation for various evidence based health programs. St. Vincent DePaul (SVDP) Thrift Stores throughout the United States are mutually formed in an association of lay employees and volunteers dedicated to serve needy sisters and brothers. For those who cannot afford the clothing, furniture and other household items may be provided them through a Vincentian referral/voucher system. The SVDP Thrift Store aims to serve the needs of people in our community, show people the love of Jesus, and generate money to meet the physical needs of people in need of housing, clothing, gas, food, etc. Surplus funds will be dedicated to the support of Parish Conferences and charitable causes of the Society approved by our District Council.
