A holistic approach enhances the Military Force through resources, support and education. Provides a focal point of information through Eight Essential Services. - Crisis intervention resources and referrals - Legal resources and referrals - Financial resources and referrals - TRICARE resources and referrals - ID Cards and DEERS - Community information and outreach - Exceptional Family Member Program - Emergency Family Assistance Center The Family Assistance Center is critical in providing help to all Military Families. This holds especially true for geographically dispersed Families who are unable to access services at a local bases, installations, or forts.

Black Hills Advocate helps a variety of people including people who are aging, people who are caregivers for a loved one or families with aging parents who live in the Black Hills. Black Hills Advocate also assists people who are facing illness; either short term or long term. They also facilitate a culture of transparency between patient and provider. Black Hills Advocate provide services including accompaniment to doctor/hospital visits, coordination of all health care providers, maintain portfolio of medical history, communicate with client's accountants, attorneys & financial planners, process monthly bill paying & bank statement reconciliation, implement financial planning strategies, assist with completion of health insurance & financial assistance applications, research treatment options, assist with advance directives (Health Care or Financial POA, Living Will, etc.), perform wellness visits at home or extended care facilities, coordinate end-of-life requests & after care planning, provide Guardianship & Conservatorship, advocate for patient's rights & medical needs, and assist with level of care choices & placement.

Assists individuals with civil legal problems related to a disaster. Services may include help with FEMA support, such as applications/appeals or identifying and gathering relevant documentation; help with insurance claims for doctor and hospital bills, loss of property, loss of life, etc.; drafting of new wills, powers of attorney and other legal papers lost in the disaster; assistance with home repair contracts and contractors; counseling and advice about landlord/tenant matters; and help with consumer protection matters, remedies, and procedures.

Civil legal services can include help with orders for protection, divorce, custody, employment issues, housing issues, etc. This project is paid through the South Dakota Network Against Family Violence & Sexual Assault. Funding is limited so the civil legal services are not guaranteed.
