Provides technical assistance, training, and resources to families and service providers of children aged birth to 21 with varying levels of both hearing and vision loss. Services are geared toward improving educational outcomes in order to help prepare them for eventual transition into adulthood. Technical assistance and support services include: understanding vision and hearing loss, developing communication skills, using accommodations and technology, assisting with the development of educational plans and meaningful strategies, daily living skills, and transitioning across life stages. Information and resources include guides and handbooks, links to state and national resources, Wegner library resources, and deaf-blind topic pages.

Telecommunication Adaptive Devices: Provides adapted telecommunication services, which includes an emergency phone dialer. American's with Disabilities Act: Serves as educators and consultants for contractors, businesses, organizations, and individuals regarding the American with Disabilities Act (ADA) and its guidelines and requirements. Assistive Daily Living Services: Provides services for people ages 18 and older, with physical disabilities affecting all four limbs, who need assistance with daily living activities. Services include program education and support and personal attendant services. ​Money Follows the Person: Provides options for older adults and/or people with disabilities living in nursing homes, hospitals, or long-term care facilities to enable them to successfully return to their homes and communities. Provides assistance in the education of children who are deaf or hard of hearing (DHH) offering support and consultative services to homes, daycares, and schools. Children in South Dakota who have been professionally identified as DHH may be eligible for services. These services include: information on hearing level, assistive technology, language development, and communication opportunities; participation in the development of an individualized Family Service Plan; communication choice support of sign language skills/or training to facilitate listening and spoken language; demonstration of the use of hearing aids, cochlear implants, FM/DM systems, or other forms of listening technology; collaboration with other service providers; and social opportunities and networking for the Deaf community, as well as connecting families raising children who are DHH.

LSS Independent Living Services offers a strong and consistent support system to young adults ages 16 to 21 while they learn skills to be self-sufficient adults. Programs include a Community Resource Program and Young Voices Program. The Community Resource Program provides independent living skills through one-to-one education, workshops and conferences. It helps youth access funding for post-secondary education, housing assistance, and start-up support for graduating high school seniors. The Young Voices Program is a youth-led statewide group that seeks motivated individuals to provide VOICES - Vision, Opportunities, Ideas, Creativity, Enthusiasm, and Support - to those in foster homes, agencies or independent living arrangements.

Individual Advocacy
Provides services to people who are deaf, hard of hearing, deaf/blind, and/or have a speech disability. Community Education and Support: Provides a variety of direct service programming to deaf and hard of hearing consumers and the general public, including advocacy, peer support, mentoring, independent living, deaf mentoring, social services, recreation and social activities, senior citizen services, and other services as available. Employment Services: Assistance is provided with seeking and keeping employment, including job search and applications, preparing for interviews, initial job training, job coaching, assistance with co-workers and staff meetings. Telecommunication Equipment Distribution: Providing installation, training, and equipment including amplified telephones, captioned telephones, ring signalers, and mobile phones/tablets. American Sign Language: Community based and contractual sign language classes, interpreter mentoring, information regarding ASL, deaf culture, and deaf history available to the public and private organizations.

Provides a continuum of rehabilitation services for people with short- and long-term conditions, injuries, and disabilities. The goal is to improve health outcomes, make it easier for clients and families to get the right services for their needs, and reduce costs by preventing complications. Programs include: ​Brain Injury Rehabilitation - Helping patients learn new skills to help manage many of the symptoms of brain injury. ​Cancer rehabilitation - Addresses needs at each stage of treatment, helping patients cope with the effects of cancer and its treatment. ​Chronic pain services - Comprehensive outpatient pain management services. ​Comprehensive inpatient rehabilitation - Hospital-based rehabilitation program for those who require close medical monitoring and management of medical conditions. ​Comprehensive stroke rehabilitation program - Evidence-based treatments support individuals who have had a stroke as they regain daily living skills and become as independent as possible. ​Courage Kenny Kids - Offering physical and occupational therapy and speech-language pathology. ​Courage Kenny Spine Centers - Provides specialized, nonsurgical treatment for low back and neck pain. ​Spinal Cord Rehabilitation - Offers inpatient and outpatient services for persons with a spinal cord injury. ​Occupational/physical therapy and speech-language pathology - Providing clinic based outpatient rehabilitation therapy.

Provides the following services - Advocacy: Teaches people with disabilities the skills needed to advocate for themselves. Independent Living Skills: Provides hands-on training in daily-living skills including cooking, budgeting, organizing, and more. Information and referral: Connects people with resources which can provide needed information to assist individuals to live independently. Peer counseling: Provides opportunities for people with disabilities to engage with others in small or large groups or on an individual basis. Transition: Facilitates the transition of individuals with disabilities from a nursing home to independent living; providing prevention services to individuals who choose to live independently and not in a nursing home or assisted-living setting; and assisting youth to gain skills as they transition into adulthood. Community Living Services: Assists individuals in obtaining accessible, affordable housing, transportation, and other community living services. Home Modifications Adaptive Devices: Provides home modifications and adaptive devices, which could include ramps, lift chairs, bathroom modifications, reachers, canes, walkers and more. Telecommunication Adaptive Devices: Provides adapted telecommunication services, which includes an emergency phone dialer. American's with Disabilities Act: Serves as educators and consultants for contractors, businesses, organizations, and individuals regarding the American with Disabilities Act (ADA) and its guidelines and requirements. Assistive Daily Living Services: Provides services for people ages 18 and older, with physical disabilities affecting all four limbs, who need assistance with daily living activities. Services include program education and support and personal attendant services. ​Money Follows the Person: Provides options for older adults and/or people with disabilities living in nursing homes, hospitals, or long-term care facilities to enable them to successfully return to their homes and communities. Helps individuals identify barriers to living on their own, helps them find a place to live that meets their needs, and helps them find the services and supports they need to continue living independently.
