The Yankton County Veterans Service Office (VSO) supports Veterans, their dependents, and survivors in accessing a broad range of benefits, including those available through the Department of Veterans Affairs and the State of South Dakota. Also connects Veterans to other organizations that may provide additional resources and benefits. Primary services include assistance with VA health care, educational benefits, disability claims, death and survivor benefits, home loan certificates, and obtaining military records and discharges. The VSO offers comprehensive claims services, guiding Veterans through VA procedures, providing follow-up after decisions, and sharing information about eligibility at VA medical facilities. Assists eligible South Dakota Veterans in applying for the State Bonus Program and coordinates DAV van transportation for medical appointments on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
