Providing the following services: - ADVOCACY Teaching people with disabilities the skills needed to advocate for themselves. - INDEPENDENT LIVING SKILLS Providing hands-on training in daily-living skills (cooking, budgeting, organizing and more). - INFORMATION AND REFERRAL Connecting people with resources which can provide needed information to assist individuals to live independently. - PEER COUNSELING Providing opportunities for people with disabilities to engage with others in small or large groups or on an individual basis. - TRANSITION Facilitating the transition of individuals with disabilities from a nursing home to independent living; providing prevention services to individuals who choose to live independently and not in a nursing home or assisted-living setting; and assisting youth to gain skills as they transition into adulthood. - COMMUNITY LIVING SERVICES Assisting individuals in obtaining accessible, affordable housing, transportation, and other community living services. - HOME MODIFICATION ADAPTIVE DEVICES Providing home modifications and adaptive devices, which could include ramps, lift chairs, bathroom modifications, reachers, canes, walkers and more. - TELECOMMUNICATION ADAPTIVE DEVICES Providing adapted telecommunication services, which includes an emergency phone dialer. - AMERICANS WITH DISABILITIES ACT Serving as educators and consultants for contractors, businesses, organizations, and individuals regarding the American with Disabilities Act (ADA) and its guidelines and requirements. - ASSISTIVE DAILY LIVING SERVICES Providing services for people ages 18 and older, with physical disabilities affecting all four limbs, who need assistance with daily living activities. Services include program education and support and personal attendant services. - MONEY FOLLOWS THE PERSON - Providing options for older adults and/or people with disabilities living in nursing homes, hospitals, or long-term care facilities to enable them to successfully return to their homes and communities. Helps individuals identify barriers to living on their own, helps them find a place to live that meets their needs, and helps them find the services and supports they need to continue living independently.

Coping with Cancer: Parents Pushing Forward, Kids Kicking Cancer (patient group), and Bonding Buddies (siblings group), meets quarterly to provide an avenue to support the entire family. Explore common feelings and reactions from diagnosis to treatment. The group looks to provide an environment that promotes listening, sharing, and venting about being diagnosed with cancer. Daycare for young children provided. Gastric Bypass Support Group: Supports individuals who have had gastric bypass surgery and those interested in learning more about weight loss surgery including family and friends. Outpatient Diabetes Class: Includes instruction on: nutrition, exercise, medications, stress management, goal development, and dealing with the complications of the disease. Families are welcome.

Bone Marrow Transplant Support Group - For individuals that have gone through or may be undergoing a transplant. Cancer Caregiver Support Program - Open to all caregivers who care for loved one with any type of cancer diagnosis. Cooperative Parenting and Divorce - Parents can learn the skills necessary to minimize difficulties for their children as their roles change from spouses to co-parents. Inipi Inipi sweat purification ceremony is open to all Indigenous community members seeking spiritual connection, being mindful of those in attendance and taking care that all participants feel safe. Those who are on their moon time are respectfully asked to not attend. Community Inipi is open to men, women, children, Two-Spirit, and gender diverse community members seeking spiritual connection. Women's Inipi is open to all women, as well as Two-Spirit and non-binary community members who align with women's spiritual teachings. Positive Indian Parenting (PIP) PIP is an 8-week parent training class for Indigenous parents, caregivers, non-Native foster parents of Indigenous children, and others who strive to be more positive in their approach to parenting. PIP offers participants a structured exploration of traditional American Indian and Alaska Native values concerning parenting and helps participants apply those values in a modem setting. Red Road Approach (RRA) RRA groups offer a cognitive and experiential curriculum on Native American/Indigenous philosophies, activating the spirit for individuals, families, and communities. Participants will be guided through lessons on the impacts of alcohol and drugs on the mind, body, and spirit. This curriculum is a 10-week adult program that meets on a weekly basis. Incentives available for graduates of the program. Men's and Women's RRA groups offered. Therapeutic Sewing & Beading Join for coffee, laughter, and traditional craft-making! Open to the community, warm up with some coffee and work on beading and sewing with help from experts. Ašniyapi Ošpaye (Healing Family) Group (Sioux Falls) / Spiritual Group (Pierre) Join for a safe space for those seeking support, healing, and a time to connect with others in the community. Members will be guided through topics such as cultural values, language, and continued self-healing. All are welcome, as this group will be a place to foster empowerment through encouragement and education. Walking Group During the warmer months, we invite you to join SDUIH for a weekly walking group! Incentives available for group participants. Open to all fitness levels. Trauma Recovery and Empowerment Group Join the women's resiliency group to share and rebuild. The group will focus on building coping skills and resilience, covering depression, anxiety, trauma, and healthy relationships. All winyans (women) are welcome, regardless of tribal affiliation or race. Alcoholics Anonymous (Pierre Only) If you are experiencing substance use disorder (SUD), we invite you to join us each week in a confidential setting to share your experience and support other group members on your journey to recovery. Alcoholics Anonymous follows a 12-step program focusing on actions that guide members through their recovery journey by taking aim at admitting powerlessness over alcohol, seeking support, and making amends. Through sharing your lived experience, the goal is to achieve and maintain sobriety while helping others. This group will operate on the principle of anonymity, emphasizing confidentiality within the group to create a safe and non- judgmental environment for individuals seeking help. The group is an open yet confidential group. Anyone is welcome. No sign-up is necessary.

Faith Based Organizational Perspective
Support for LGBTQ individuals who have endured abuse in their relationships. An 8-sessions support group for victims and survivors of domestic violence, with meetings held weekly. All adults with diverse gender identities and sexual orientations are welcome. Educational information is provided, as well as open discussion about personal experiences. This is a closed group, so registration is required by contacting the group facilitator. There is no cost to attend. Provides the following education and support services: Crisis Hot Line is a 24-hour service for anyone seeking help or information on domestic violence, stalking, or sexual assault. Domestic violence and sexual assault survivor advocacy services. Trained advocates are available to provide non-judgmental support for survivors, assistance with protection orders, referrals for medical needs/mental health/and legal services, food, personal items, diapers, other immediate needs, referrals for employment and education, and transportation to flee the area or for employment and housing search. Support and resource information by trained advocates to provide referrals for medical counseling, social services, and legal services depending on the victims needs. ​Confidential adult and children support groups which meet weekly. Available to all victims/survivors of past or present domestic violence, sexual assault, and stalking. Call for more information on available groups. Community education programs providing speakers, videos, and materials to the public to increase education and awareness on the issues of domestic violence, sexual assault, and stalking. A 12-step self-help support group for those affected by the compulsive gambling of a loved one. Local area meetings are attended only by those who have this problem. Gam-Anon honors the anonymity of members by not using last names, not speaking about our meetings, and not discussing those who are attending to anyone who is not attending. The International Service Office supports the individual Gam-Anon meetings all over the world. See website for a list of meetings. Local meetings may not always be available, but virtual meetings are an option.

An evidence-based and practice informed program that has been shown to effectively influence components of grief and grief recovery. Based on over 40 years of practice dealing with grief and working one on one with grievers, the GRM program helps reduce grief by teaching grievers new skills on how to cope and process grief; how to confront old myths or unhelpful patterns of grieving; how to examine the ways in which grief has impacted their life through detailed assignments and exercises; and how to let go of pain from loss through the timely identification of apologies, forgiveness, and significant emotional statements, all within a helpful, supportive environment. There are 4 programs; 8-week support group, 7-week one on one, 4-week Helping Children Deal with Loss, and 6-week for Pet Loss. Wellness/Brain Health Coaching is a psycho-education program for working with a variety of issues such as depression, anxiety, self efficacy, ADD, ADHD, and addictions which address the four circles of health and healing: biology, psychology, social, and spiritual.
