Outpatient services are available to anyone who may currently be experiencing problems which are of an emotional, behavioral, substance abuse, or interpersonal nature. Therapy services include individual therapy, group therapy, couples therapy, family therapy, home-based therapy, medication management, substance use individual and group treatment programs, crisis intervention, and telehealth. Diagnostic services include psychiatric evaluation, mental status examination, education assessment, emergency mental health evaluation, and treatment needs assessment for substance abuse problems. Intensive, non-residential treatment program providing services to children who meet the states' Severe Emotional Disturbance (SED) criteria and would not be successful in less restrictive services. Also provides services to their families. Incorporating counseling, case management, and family support services, with the goal of assisting in the development of a nurturing and stable family environment in which children may grow. A counselor along with family, individuals supporting the family, and professionals will develop a customized treatment plan which will assist in meeting the needs of the child and family. Services provided to program participants include 24-hour crisis assistance, counseling services, chemical dependency screenings and assessments, case management, dedication management, psychiatric services, classes and workshops on mental health topics, early childhood mental health services, and play therapy for children ages 0 to 5. Some therapies offered in this program include Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Moral Reconation Therapy (MRT), and Aggression Replacement Therapy (ART).

Aimed at helping people with a severe and persistent mental illness to live successfully in the community. This program stresses outreach to consumers and the provision of services according to the individual consumer's needs, and is available through Dakota Counseling Institute's Pathway program located in a separate building beside the main office in Mitchell. Each consumer is assigned a case manager who, with the active participation of the consumer, designs an individualized treatment plan outlining the various services which will be provided to reach individualized treatment goals. Examples of services provided are case management, medication management, crisis intervention housing assistance, linkage to appropriate community services, and telehealth services.

The Systems of Care (SOC) program is a wraparound approach to delivering services to at-risk youth and families. This program is a free resource available to children under the age of 21 and their families and is meant to be a temporary service to help meet the needs of the child and family. Identified needs include but are not limited to basic needs, social supports, emotional needs, educational needs, community supports, housing supports, health, and safety. This program is meant to be temporary where services will conclude once all needs have been met. In instances where the child or a family member requires additional supports outside of what can be provided through this program, assistance will be provided in obtaining these additional services.
