Provides uninsured and underinsured individuals 18 years and older with access to medical eye exams with no out of pocket cost. Treatment for anything diagnosed at the initial visit for up to one year at no out-of-pocket cost with the volunteer ophthalmologist. Costs for eyeglasses, prescription drugs, hospital services, and fees of other medical professionals are excluded from this program. Navigation Center | Avera

A 24-hour source of support and information to cancer patients and their families. Reasons for calling the Navigation Center can range from managing symptoms, to finding resources for emotional support, to getting help for loved ones impacted by cancer. Anyone can call the Navigation Center - they do not need to be an Avera patient. Calls are answered by registered nurses and social workers. The Avera Cancer Institute has a registered dietician that can assist cancer patients with eating problems and related nutritional concerns, and offers several cancer support groups (in the Sioux Empire area) including A Time To Heal for All Cancers, Cancer Caregiver Support Group, Look Good, Feel Better, Men's Cancer Support Group, and To Be Well.
