Acts as an advocate and provides assistance to military veterans and their dependents in determining eligibility and applying for various federal and state benefits, such as service-connected compensation, non-service connected pension, outpatient and hospital medical treatment, guaranteed home loan certificates, education and on-the-job training benefits, burial benefits, survivor benefits, referral information, as well as many others.

The ombudsman will answer questions and act as a mediator to help find an answer that both parties can accept. The ombudsman will also coordinate awareness of fair housing statewide. If the dispute is unresolved and potentially involves housing discrimination, the ombudsman will assist in completing a complaint form with the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). A resource for people who have questions related to having a companion animals - typically in a rental situation where the landlord does not allow pets.

Pivot Point provides 24/7 crisis assessment and stabilization services for adults (18+) who are experiencing a mental health crisis. Services include a comprehensive mental health assessment, stabilization of acute psychiatric symptoms, the development of a safety plan, and connection to appropriate ongoing services and supports. There is no fee for services. Individuals in need of transportation to the facility may contact the facility or law enforcement to assist with transportation. Pivot Point is an Appropriate Regional Facility for the State of South Dakota offering safe, supportive services for individuals experiencing mental health crisis or thoughts of self-harm.

Juveniles are committed to the Juvenile Division of the Department of Corrections by a Circuit Court Judge. Mission is to protect the citizens of South Dakota by providing safe and secure facilities for juvenile offenders and to provide opportunities for their rehabilitation, and to provide effective community supervision upon their release.

With over 60 volunteer firefighters, the department is organized into 4 engine companies and 1 aerial ladder company. From these home companies the department also staffs and supports a rescue squad, a dive rescue squad, and has the capability to respond to various technical rescue incidents.

The Auditor is the keeper of County records and acts as a bookkeeper of County business. The Auditor is responsible for County Commissioner meetings including scheduling, agenda, business follow-up. A substance abuse treatment facility for female clients of the Glory House. Services include substance use assessment, drug/alcohol testing, mental health screening, tobacco use education/prevention, smoking cessation, peer mentoring, and counseling services. This is an accredited facility with the State of South Dakota.

Children's Connection works with the Sioux Falls School District to provide group counseling services to children with an incarcerated loved one. Family Connection, through the Children's Connection program, is working to break the generational cycle of incarceration. The program involves group counseling and other appropriate services with an emphasis on providing support, education and other positive coping skills. The goal is to provide a safe place for children to talk and know they are not alone.

CES is an assessment and referral system to housing resources for those who are experiencing homelessness or at risk of homelessness. It is not a direct application for assistance; rather trained assessors gather information from households to assess needs and barriers to housing. Referrals are sent to providers in communities where vacancies are available. Households can access CES through a physical access point or calling toll free 1-800-664-1349 if a physical access point is not available in their local community.

An outpatient clinic that offers mental health care counseling services, treatment for post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), and suicide prevention services to veterans through private counseling, group therapy, medications, care coordinators, case managers, gun safety locks, and outreach and community education.

Freeman Community Transit operates under the management of Brookings Area Transit Authority (BATA) in Brookings, South Dakota. Offers transportation services to anyone within Hutchinson County. Passengers can schedule rides to work, school, medical appointments, shopping trips, and more. Passengers must schedule rides at least one day before transportation is needed. Offers door-to-door service. Freeman Community Transit is a Medicaid provider, and medical transportation may be covered by eligible Medicaid recipients.
