Primarily focuses its efforts on public education, fire prevention initiatives, preparedness and overall community risk reduction. Many children love the fun of attending summer camps, and children with special physical or medical challenges are no exception.Sanford Children's provides camps designed for children with specific challenges or illnesses. All camps take place at barrier-free locations and are staffed with Sanford Children's professionals to ensure children have a safe and fun experience. The 2026 Sanford Children's Summer Camps include Bring it On for children with cancer and pediatric cancer survivors, scheduled for June 21 - 27, 2026; and Spirit Camp for children diagnosed with spina-bifida set for July 12-18, 2026. Both camps will be held at Joy Ranch, eight miles northwest of Watertown, South Dakota.

Children's Home Society is intentional and proactive in its efforts to stop the cycle of child abuse and domestic violence through education, consultation, advocacy and awareness. Statewide training and prevention events are offered throughout the state to professionals, as well as the general public. Topics include recognizing and responding to child abuse and domestic violence, how to handle child abuse disclosures, trauma and ACEs (Adverse Childhood Experiences) education, healthy relationships and dating violence for teens, Enough Abuse training, and free community trainings. Trainings can be customized to the needs of the individual or organization.

Serving hot nutritious meals daily at both Active Generations Main and East locations. Menus can be found in the monthly newsletter or online. Active Generations Meal Program is sponsored in part by the National Senior Nutrition Project. Funding for Senior Meals is a joint effort between federal and state governments, community support and participant donations. National Senior Nutrition Project provides persons age 60 and over, their spouse, and/or dependent adult living with them a nutritious meal in a social (congregate) and home delivered setting. Menus meet 1/3 of the Dietary Reference Intakes (DRI's) for the population served and low in fat and sodium. Carbohydrate-counted menus are available as well as textured modified servings.

Adult and pediatric injury services such as Fractures (casting and splinting), Lacerations, Minor burns, Splints, Sprains, Stitches, Strains, and X-rays. Coordinates all agencies within the jurisdiction to include public, private, and non-governmental organizations to ensure the protection of life and property in the event of threatened or actual natural disasters, terrorism, technological or man-made events. ​Responsibilities includes develops and maintains the county plan for reacting to emergencies; during an actual emergency, the director coordinates the action; and trains other agencies to respond to emergencies. ​County Emergency Managers can make contact with volunteer fire departments in their County.
