The Juvenile Diversion Program, which includes Teen Court and Truancy Court, is a collaboration between the Pennington County State's Attorney, the 7th Judicial Court, and local social service providers. It is offered as an alternative to court involvement for juvenile offenders ages 10-17. Teen Court is a volunteer youth program, and accepts volunteers 14-17 years old. Charges typically eligible for diversion include: Minor consumption/possession of alcohol Shoplifting Simple assault Disorderly conduct Disturbance in school Truancy Possession of tobacco, marijuana, or drug paraphernalia The following are some of the classes and other activities that may be required during the three-month program. Participants are responsible for all program costs. Scholarships may be available for families needing financial assistance.

• Property Offense and Stop and Think Classes, a two-hour class emphasizing choices and consequences.
• Community Service, juveniles work as volunteers in the community for a specific number of hours in either diversion-arranged projects or at other sites arranged by the family.
• M.A.D.D. Victim Impact Panel, juveniles attend a presentation by individuals whose lives have been affected by drinking and driving accidents.
• Tattoo Removal, juveniles wanting tattoos removed, can be referred to T.R.U.S.T. (Tattoo Removal Unified Support Team).

The South Dakota Department of Health is offering a series of public MMR (measles, mumps and rubella) vaccination clinics across the state. Measles is a highly contagious disease that can cause serious complications, but it is preventable through the safe and effective MMR (measles, mumps, rubella) vaccine. A state agency that helps individuals with disabilities to gain and maintain compatible employment in an area of their choice. Some of the available services include vocational counseling and guidance, vocational assessments, training opportunities, on-the-job training, work site accommodations, and job placement services. Services and programs include Vocational Rehabilitation Services, Independent Living services, Telecommunications Adaptive Devices (TAD), Deaf Services, and Assistive Daily Living Services (ADLS). The Mitchell office only provides Vocational Rehabilitation Services. Voc. Rehab Counselors can make referrals to the above services and programs if clients reside in the Mitchell area.

Trips to Rapid City or Sioux Falls will be coordinated with River Cities Public Transit out of Pierre. (This may affect pick-up times). All out of town medical trips are on a 1st come 1st serve basis and are based on driver availability. Non-medical out of town trips available with 48 hour notice. Medicaid is an accepted form of payment for medical trips. There are many transportation grant opportunities available through RCPT. Call for more information. Anger management class for young men. Class meets once a week for six weeks. The group's objectives are identifying anger and accepting that it exists, understanding how and where anger is learned, taking responsibility for behavior, and selecting choices in expressing anger.

IRS-certified volunteers provide free basic income tax return preparation with electronic filing. to qualified individuals. The IRS VITA finder lists a site only two weeks before it opens. So, if a site isn't showing on the list, check back regularly for updated information.

The Moody County Highway Department supervises new construction and maintains all County highways including removing snow and ice, mowing, patching, and replacing signs. The Department also maintains all bridges on Moody County roads and township roads that are not part of the State or City Highway System. The Superintendent is also responsible for preparing the specifications of any advertised bids dealing with the highway equipment or construction.

Supplemental Nutritional Assistance Program (SNAP) is a supplemental food program that enables eligible households to obtain a more nutritious diet. Eligibility is determined by income, resources, and household size. Lost, stolen, or damaged EBT (SNAP) cards must call customer service to report the loss of your card. You will need to enter the card number. If you do not have the card, stay on the line for a second prompt and press 2. Reporting an EBT card as lost, stolen, or damaged will result in that card being declined.
