Accepted items: Grass, leaves, and garden rubbish, trees and lumber, building demolition, non-burnable materials such as cement, plaster, sheetrock, asphalt, and shingles, sofas, mattresses, box springs, windows, upholstered furniture, storm doors, bathroom fixtures, appliances, appliances with Freon, metals such as automotive bodies/parts and sheet metal, lawn mowers, furnaces, ductwork, and tires. Items not allowed: Oil-paint, chemical containers, paper, plastic, cardboard, automotive filters, electronics such as TVs, computers and computer equipment, radios, microwaves, and CD/DVD players. Bags and containers must be emptied, and no bags or containers may be left at the site. The City of Arlington reserves the right to refuse any load that does not comply with regulations.

The Pettigrew Home and Museum is a historic house built in 1889 and in 1911 became the home of Richard Franklin Pettigrew. He was the first Senator for the State of South Dakota. There are two museum galleries featuring exhibits on Pettigrew and historic Sioux Falls. Tours of the home are offered every day of the week.
