The focus of the mentoring relationship is for a mentor to build a positive relationship with a student as a caring adult figure to help them reach their full potential.
Volunteer mentors focus on the positives in students to help them succeed. Students in TeamMates reflect improvement in attendance, behavior referrals, and academic performance.

Connect her with the appropriate medical, dental, and mental health care services within the community.
Offer referrals for tutoring or other services to meet her individual needs.
Work closely with her family and school to ensure her success.
