Fair Housing: Protects residents of Sioux Falls from illegal acts of discrimination in all aspects of housing through enforcement of Fair Housing laws under the Code of Ordinances of Sioux Falls Chapter 98. Provides education and awareness of fair housing laws and illegal discrimination. Fair Housing seeks to informally resolve disputes where a civil rights violation appears to have occurred. Fair Housing does not provide legal advice. Individuals may file a written discrimination complaint with the Human Relations Office if they believe they have been treated unfairly because of their race, color, creed, sex, national origin, religion, ancestry, familial status, or disability. Office does not provide legal representation or advice.

Provides the following services - Advocacy: Teaches people with disabilities the skills needed to advocate for themselves. Independent Living Skills: Provides hands-on training in daily-living skills including cooking, budgeting, organizing, and more. Information and referral: Connects people with resources which can provide needed information to assist individuals to live independently. Peer counseling: Provides opportunities for people with disabilities to engage with others in small or large groups or on an individual basis. Transition: Facilitates the transition of individuals with disabilities from a nursing home to independent living; providing prevention services to individuals who choose to live independently and not in a nursing home or assisted-living setting; and assisting youth to gain skills as they transition into adulthood. Community Living Services: Assists individuals in obtaining accessible, affordable housing, transportation, and other community living services. Home Modifications Adaptive Devices: Provides home modifications and adaptive devices, which could include ramps, lift chairs, bathroom modifications, reachers, canes, walkers and more. Telecommunication Adaptive Devices: Provides adapted telecommunication services, which includes an emergency phone dialer. American's with Disabilities Act: Serves as educators and consultants for contractors, businesses, organizations, and individuals regarding the American with Disabilities Act (ADA) and its guidelines and requirements. Assistive Daily Living Services: Provides services for people ages 18 and older, with physical disabilities affecting all four limbs, who need assistance with daily living activities. Services include program education and support and personal attendant services. ​Money Follows the Person: Provides options for older adults and/or people with disabilities living in nursing homes, hospitals, or long-term care facilities to enable them to successfully return to their homes and communities. Helps individuals identify barriers to living on their own, helps them find a place to live that meets their needs, and helps them find the services and supports they need to continue living independently.

To educate, advocate for and empower survivors of domestic abuse and violence (as well as coercive control, human trafficking, sexual assault, dating abuse and violence, child abuse, adults molested as children, other victims of violence crimes, stalking and elder abuse) and their dependents. Engages communities in promoting no tolerance of domestic abuse and violence. Services include answers crisis calls 24/7 and follow ups with victims, Gives referrals and maintains a Shelter Safe House in Redfield (7 beds for up to 10 victims), Assists victims in finding attorneys, obtaining protection orders, attending court, and working with law enforcement. Also assists victims find jobs and housing to work towards independent living and works as medical advocates by accompanying victims to the hospital when obtaining medical assistance for injuries or sexual assault. Brings awareness to help prevent acts of violence by speaking to church groups and civic organizations as well as presentations in all 7 public schools in the tri-county area to teach awareness of bullying and safe dating to 8th graders and safety when starting college to high school seniors.

A state agency that helps individuals with disabilities to gain and maintain compatible employment in an area of their choice. Some of the available services include vocational counseling and guidance, vocational assessments, training opportunities, on-the-job training, work site accommodations, and job placement services. Services and programs include Vocational Rehabilitation Services, Independent Living services, Telecommunications Adaptive Devices (TAD), Deaf Services, and Assistive Daily Living Services (ADLS). The Mitchell office only provides Vocational Rehabilitation Services. Voc. Rehab Counselors can make referrals to the above services and programs if clients reside in the Mitchell area.

Serving families of children with disabilities and special health needs for 40 years; services include individual assistance, connection to programs at the local, state and national level, and helps parents and schools navigate the special education process. Staff also deliver workshops in-person for groups upon request. Willing to work with parents and professionals to develop and deliver training based on the needs of the group. Workshops/presentations are delivered at no cost to parents. A nominal fee structure is in place for delivery to professional groups.

The goal is to help older adults and caregivers in Douglas and Charles Mix counties access services and supports to successfully age at home. The program is open to help with identifying resources for many needs and focuses on transportation, food security, social isolation, safe housing, and healthcare navigation/referrals. In August 2024, the project will begin its expansion to Hutchinson and Bon Homme counties.

Accompanies newly arrived Latinos as they seek to understand U.S. cultural norms and expectations, overcome language barriers, and integrate into Sioux Falls and surrounding communities. Develops educational opportunities that include English language learning for adults, citizenship preparation, and other opportunities to advance. Offers support to Latinos affected by domestic violence through providing resources, accompaniment, and assessment of immigration options. Provides an Immigration Program that is recognized and accredited by the U.S. Department of Justice, and that offers competent, professional and affordable immigration counseling and legal services to Latino individuals and families. Accompanies and educates Latinos while assisting them in accessing social, mental health, medical, dental, legal, employment and other services available in Sioux Falls and the tri-state region. Partners with other agencies in the Sioux Falls area by advocating and collaboratively advancing bicultural and bilingual awareness and services. Upholds and promotes the dignity and human rights of Latino immigrants through advocacy and justice. Partners with local/regional/national agencies and advocates to educate the public and address immigration issues and legislation.

The Center for Disabilities LEND Clinic works to improve the health of infants and children with neurodevelopmental and related disabilities. The Center for Disabilities helps families who are interested in learning how to support their child's strengths and address their weaknesses and health care needs. The South Dakota LEND Developmental Clinic provides a free interdisciplinary evaluation to children who are between six months and six years old who may have a developmental concern. The evaluation is offered once a month at the USD Sanford School of Medicine Health Science Center in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.

The CWOY Support Navigator program is designed to provide support for American Indian youth, adults, and their families in the He Sapa area who struggle with suicidal thoughts or behaviors. The Department of Human Services Guardianship Program provides guardianship and/or conservatorship services as a last resort to qualified individuals age 18 or older with an intellectual or developmental disability as defined in SDCL 27B-1-18 or qualified individuals in the Long Terms Services and Supports program. The South Dakota Department of Human Services may be appointed as a guardian, a conservator, or both, for adults with developmental disabilities under its care or to whom it is providing services or financial assistance, but only if there is no individual, nonprofit corporation, bank or trust company, or other public agency that is qualified to serve, as defined in SDCL 29A-5-110, or qualified individuals in the Long Terms Services and Supports program. The department also provides financial assistance for qualified individuals who are willing and qualified to serve as a guardian and/or conservator of up to $1,500.00 for the establishment of a guardianship or conservatorship through the Guardianship Establishment Program. Limited amount of funds for this program are available each year on a first come first served basis for qualified individuals.
