Auxiliary Emergency Fund | American Legion

A national grant assistance program that provides financial assistance to eligible American Legion Auxiliary members who are impacted by a natural disaster or in a time of financial crisis. Disaster Assistance: Applicants must either received damage to their primary residence, been displaced/evacuated from their residence or experienced basic out-of-pocket emergency expenses. Hardship Assistance: Applicants have to have past due expenses related to their primary residence and/or basic household utilities. Grants are awarded for $3,000 per grantee and one grant (disaster or hardship) will be awarded in a 12-month period.

Walk in assessments available during regular business hours at the Yankton and Vermillion locations. CARE Club - Program for individuals with a mental health disability (i.e. schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, anxiety and borderline personality) who live in the community. CARE club provides support, assistance, interaction with others and the opportunity to improve consumers existing skills and develop new coping skills. Children's Services - Provides child centered therapeutic services in the home or office. This program provides mental health services to children with Serious Emotional Disturbance (SED). Emergency Management | Davison County

Davison County Emergency Management assists citizens in need, from a minor incident such as a fuel spill up to a catastrophic disaster. Educating the public through awareness is key, such as severe weather awareness training, testing outdoor warning sirens, and local tornado and fire drills. Emergency Management organizes the Local Emergency Planning Committee (LEPC). The main purpose of the LEPC is to bring representatives together from various government, private, and non-profit agencies on a monthly basis; in an effort to address possible emergency situations. It is also an opportunity to form professional relationships among agencies to increase cooperation, coordination, and interactions that will be necessary during major incidents. The Davison County Office of Emergency Management is responsible for the coordination and administration of the James Valley Critical Incident Stress Management Team (CISM). CISM will assist participants in understanding the thoughts, emotions and behaviors that occurred during and after a major incident. Also, coordinates the Davison County Search & Rescue Team searches for and provides aid to people who are in distress or imminent danger. The Team assists local law enforcement with traffic control during planned events or emergency situations, assists as Severe Weather spotters, searches for lost persons, and supports other emergency response personnel and agencies in the Davison County area.

Emergency Management Division | City of Sioux Falls Fire Rescue

Coordinates planning, preparedness, mitigation, and training activities to ensure the City and community are prepared to respond to natural and man-made disasters. The City of Sioux Falls does not have any community/public storm shelters. Those who do not have basements are advised to plan ahead to find appropriate safe locations. Once a warning has been issued, it is better to shelter in place. Take shelter at the lowest level possible, in the smallest, innermost room. Administers the Rapid City-Pennington County emergency and disaster service program and advises Rapid City and Pennington County elected and appointed officials on emergency and disaster operations when a state of emergency or disaster exists. If emergency/disaster shelters are available, and applicant chooses not to stay at shelter, then they need to provide a reason why they did not stay in shelter. The online application only covers most immediate needs (e.g. temporary housing, food, water, clothing, diapers, etc.) during the period after the disaster happens.
