Building Better Caregivers: workshop designated for family caregivers of people living with dementia, Alzheimer's, brain injury, other conditions that affect memory, and those who can no longer live at home independently. Topics covered include caregiver stress, dealing with difficult care partner behavior and emotions, finding help, making decisions about treatment, communicating effectively with family, friends, and health professionals, planning for future needs, and legal issues related to caregiving. This is a virtual training. Surviving and Thriving Workshop: workshop designed for cancer survivors and caregivers to improve self-management skills. Topics covered include techniques to deal with symptoms of cancer and its treatment such as fatigue, pain, sleeplessness, shortness of breath, stress, and emotional problems such as depression, anger, fear, and frustration. Chronic Disease Self-Management Workshop: workshop designed to improve the self-management skills of people living with ongoing health issues. Conditions like arthritis, mental health conditions, chronic pain, cancer, or diabetes can cause those affected to lose physical conditioning and suffer health problems over many years. This program teaches new strategies that will give participants the confidence, motivation, and skills needed to manage living with a chronic health condition. Chronic Pain Self-Management Workshop: workshop designed to help participants live a healthy life with chronic pain by managing their symptoms. This program teaches new strategies that will give participants the confidence, motivation, and skills needed to manage living with chronic pain. Workshops are highly participative, where mutual support and success build the participants confidence in their ability to manage their health and maintain active and fulfilling lives. This is a virtual training. Diabetes Self-Management Workshop: Workshop designed for people with prediabetes, type 2 diabetes, a family history of diabetes, and caregivers. Participants will make weekly action plans, share experiences, and help each other solve problems they encounter in creating and carrying out their self-management programs. Walk with Ease Workshop: a 6-week community-based walking program designed to engage participants to maintain a successful waking program. Workshops include health education, stretching, and group or self-guided walking.

Common Sense Parenting Class: Classes are interactive and include videotaped examples to watch, rather than a lecture format. Topics cover a wide range of mental health issues from alcoholism and the family to stress management. SMILE: Education program for separating and divorcing parents with children under the age of 18, designed to inform parents how to better understand the effects of divorce; assist parents to understand the needs of their children; help parents learn what they can do to create a nurturing and safe environment so their children can recover and feel good about themselves; inform parents how to prevent destructive game playing that is common among divorce; help parents gain problem solving skills. Understanding Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder: For children ages 5 - 11 and their birth, foster, or adoptive parents. While the parents or parenting team is involved in education, supportive discussion and training, the children will gather in a separate group to work on developmental and behavioral issues. - Mental Health First Aid Trainings: Offered periodically. Participants are taught to assess for risk of suicide or harm; listen non-judgmentally; give reassurance and information; encourage appropriate professional help; and encourage self-help and other support strategies. - Youth Mental Health First Aid Trainings: Offered periodically. Goal is to revitalize neighborhoods by assisting in providing decent, safe, and affordable housing in Western South Dakota. Provides assistance to families to buy and fix their homes through: down payment and closing cost assistance, rehab loans (can only be utilized with homes on a permanent foundation, no manufactured homes on rented lots), affordable housing, credit counseling, home-buyer education, and foreclosure prevention and counseling. Rehab loans include 3 to 5 year forgivable loans, deferred loans, and low interest loans depending on the homeowners income and can be used for a variety of Life Safety repairs such as heating, plumbing, electrical, windows, rood, decks and steps, handicap access, etc. Loan terms, conditions, and availability are subject to change without notice.

Provides services to people who are deaf, hard of hearing, deaf/blind, and/or have a speech disability. Community Education and Support: Provides a variety of direct service programming to deaf and hard of hearing consumers and the general public, including advocacy, peer support, mentoring, independent living, deaf mentoring, social services, recreation and social activities, senior citizen services, and other services as available. Employment Services: Assistance is provided with seeking and keeping employment, including job search and applications, preparing for interviews, initial job training, job coaching, assistance with co-workers and staff meetings. Telecommunication Equipment Distribution: Providing installation, training, and equipment including amplified telephones, captioned telephones, ring signalers, and mobile phones/tablets. American Sign Language: Community based and contractual sign language classes, interpreter mentoring, information regarding ASL, deaf culture, and deaf history available to the public and private organizations.

Driver education classes are offered at each high school for high school age students in the Spring, Summer and Fall.

CCCS offers a variety of education programs and information to help you make informed financial decisions and live better. Available classes include: - Credit When Credit Is Due: A 6 hour financial education course that covers all aspects of credit and borrowing. The course teaches people how to better manage their money and steps to take to improve their credit score. Graduates of the course receive information to send to the credit bureaus to add a positive statement on their credit reports. - Make Your Move: An educational program for anyone looking to purchase a home or refinance a home. Make Your Move takes a complicated subject and makes it simple. This course meets HUD guidelines. You will learn all about the home buying process. The Ins and Outs of Renting: A 2 hour rental education course for anyone already renting or looking to rent. Learn the rights and responsibilities of being a renter, what questions you should ask before renting, and tips to get the right rental for you. Classes for groups can be scheduled by phone and taught at location. No charge for this service.
