Connecting With Our Youth | Great Plains Tribal Leaders Health Board

The CWOY Support Navigator program is designed to provide support for American Indian youth, adults, and their families in the He Sapa area who struggle with suicidal thoughts or behaviors. CWOY Support Navigators act as mentors, advocates, and resource guides for American Indian youth, adults, and families needing support for their healing and personal growth. Services offered include one-on-one mentorship, advocacy, individualized care planning, outings, activities and workshops, transportation to appointments, collaboration with behavioral health resources, coordination for success in academic programs, communication with family members, connecting participants to peer and community programs in support of healing goals, skill-building, mental health counseling, and therapeutic circles.

Providing additional relapse prevention calls and potential to receive gift card incentives. ​The Kickstart Kit is a quit guide and four weeks of patches, gum, or lozenges that can be ordered on website.

The Tobacco Prevention Resource Center focuses on reducing disease, disability, and death related to tobacco use by preventing the initiation of tobacco use among young people, promoting quitting among youth and adults, eliminating nonsmokers' exposure to environmental tobacco smoke, and identifying and eliminating the disparities related to tobacco use and its effects among different population groups. Facilitation of tobacco prevention services are available through services such as an online website which includes tobacco resource library holdings, technical assistance for program development, tobacco resource library, and assistance to the medical and faith communities in the development of tobacco policies. ​Resources include brochures, posters, videos, display items, reference books, and program ideas.
